On Location with Dani – Part I

On Location with Dani – Part I

The hardest thing about doing a photo shoot with Dani Hurley is choosing the best photos afterwards – there are just too many good ones to choose from!

This was to be my second shoot with Dani, I previously photographed her in November for a dawn shoot – which I wrote about here. This time around we decided go for a more Beauty and Fashion look – something which both Dani and myself each had an interest in exploring. Dani met up with a simply stunning hair and make up stylist Thao Le from Glamour World Beauty in Sydney before heading to the back streets of inner Sydney for our on Location Shoot. Later in the day we then travelled back to Thao’s salon for her to redo Dani’s makeup again for a second series of photographs in the salon – but more on that in a future post.

This post is going to focus on the morning’s On Location shoot. I was shooting with two new lenses, Canon’s 135mm f2 and the 35mm 1.4; it was also my first session with a new modifier for my lights. I had just purchased an Elinchrom MaxiLite – although not quite a Beauty Dish – it does a similar thing; and was keen to give it a work out. We also played around with a few props – Balloons and my trusty Photo Frame which we put to good use.

Like I said previously, the hardest thing from the shoot was picking the images which I wanted to publish – trying to find the balance of show casing the best images from the shoot yet not wanting to bore the reader with too many photos was a real challenge – as there are just so many good ones. Of course true credit should go to the Model Dani and Thao’s stunning make up skills – that really made my job easier as a photographer. Also best of luck to Dani for her recent endorsement of the new face of Velvet Attic – well done!

And the obligatory setup shot..

Stay Turned for Part II of my shoot with Dani..
